Nancy Pelosi Said Impeachment Is “off the table”

On November 6, 2007, Dennis Kucinich submitted a resolution to the House for the impeachment of Richard Cheney. This resolution was referred to the Judiciary Committee where it was killed.

On June 9, 2008, Dennis Kucinich introduced thirty-five Articles of Impeachment against George Bush. He introduced it as a “privileged resolution” which requires the House to act on it within two legislative days. According to a Washington Post article:

As they have previously, Democratic leaders staunchly oppose Kucinich's impeachment effort. They expect to table the resolution by referring it to the Judiciary Committee, where they expect it to die.
That is exactly what happened.

It would seem that Ms. Pelosi’s declaration continues to determine the actions of the House in this matter. When asked to explain her stand on impeachment, Pelosi asserts that it would be a “distraction.” So let us ask her:

Under what set of moral imperatives is impeachment appropriate for lying about having sex but impeachment for lying our country into a war is considered a distraction?

On what planet is holding someone accountable for their actions considered a distraction, when those actions result in the deaths of over 4000 of America’s young men and women?

Under what Constitution can it be considered a distraction for Congress to fulfill its duty to oversee and check attempts by the Executive Branch to usurp powers our Founding Fathers established as belonging to other branches of the government?

According to what accepted standard of human behavior can accountability for illegal detention, kidnapping, and torture be dismissed as a distraction?

Under what kind of democratic rule can a president ignore the Constitution, the laws, and the human needs of the country he leads and have calling him to account be deemed a distraction?

All of these questions can be rolled up into one simple question. And so I ask Nancy Pelosi,

Since when is justice a distraction?

Well said Trish. I have nothing to add except I would sure like to see Nancy Pelosi explain herself and her decision. There has to be much more here than meets the eye. As with most things in Washington DC these days, something smells bad.

Congress should impeach Bush's butt if for no other reasons than to reassert their authority of oversight as a separate branch of government, and to send the message to the world that not all Americans have lost their sanity, and those that had, have regained it.

She was part of the plan to go to war lying right there with Bush Trish.....the whole government were lying Trish...Here are a few of the liars including Pelosi before the war Trish...
Everything you say here is fine and dandy but it doesn't change the fact that all we can do as individuals is conserve as Stan suggests, AND make suggestions to our elected officials IF we have an idea that may work. My point remains my being conservative while at the same time remaining comfortable doesn't seem to be working since fossil fuel burning now totals 71% of our electrical manufacturing. And no matter what we as warm blooded creatures say should be done, we still will demand the comfort electricity allows us.
Nuclear energy remains the one source able to provide massive quantities of electricity to large areas of the country that will STOP the massive pollution done by coal fired and natural gas fired electrical plants.
If nuclear were ever built the use of coal and natural gas could then migrate to be used in transportation and mass transit. It just seems to make sense. And even if it didn't naturally flow with coal and natural gas migrating to transportation, the closing of those plants would be exactly what the environmentalists have been asking for....yet they persist in this insanity demanding "alternate" sources that have been proven to be too expensive to even make a real dent.
Here is an example of a new modern solar energy plant in the Arizona desert.

They have used the most modern ideas available to us today to make electricity. Instead of solar storage they actually use a mirrored system to heat a transfer fluid, which in turn heats water into steam, which then turns turbines making electricity. The steam is captured and reused to keep the water usage down……it is brilliant.
It still takes up 3 square miles, is not functional in other areas of the country and only provides electricity for 70,000 homes.
Ideas like this have a place in our whole delivery system, but will not close many of those plants….
Sorry about the propaganda crack Frank…those squiggles got me going…and my point was never whether the cost would go up or down…I want someone to try to convince anyone on here it is somehow a bad idea to keep the $200,750,000,000,000 here in the US based on 44 years of reserves…I want them to convince anyone on here THAT is good for America…
