It's Alive!
I’m so glad to have my faith in the democratic process restored. For awhile I was afraid the “American Experiment had ended.

I am with you on this. I am relieved to see the democratic process is alive and well. I was beginning to have my doubts. The American people spoke loudly yesterday and they spoke loudly about one issue...Iraq. Never before has a midterm election repudiated a president on one issue like yesterday.
I also see another very strong message sent yesterday. Neo-conservatism is out and Goldwater conservatism is back in. Let's hope the right wing acts on that message. Hopefully firing Rummy is a sign they heard that message.
One more comment about this midterm election. I think the Democratic party has finally figured out not to campaign the Republican game but play their own game. They didn't play the right wing game of guns and abortion this time. They stood on what they stand for, at least in Ohio. Brown won because he talked about jobs and the economy, while DeWine muttered "stay the course."
And I was very impressed with Rahm Emanuel. He was clearly the mastermind of this Democrat midterm campaign. The Democrats have found a gem in Rahm Emanuel. Let's hope they use him well in 2008.

I must admit that yesterday I felt a lot lighter in my step. My faith in the voting process and the American people was partly restored. I say partly because I noticed that still, some of those under investigation were reelected. I'm not sure why there are so many people with such low standards of behavior for public officials. It's one thing to make a mistake and admit it; it's quite another to continually siphon money from (questionable in the first place) contributions and give it to your wife or other family member. Please.
At least Richard Pombo was ousted. Our trees can breathe easier now, too.

Sparkles I’m very glad to see the neoconservative influence lessoning. Hopefully that will continue. Bush finally asking Rumsfeld to leave, especially against Cheney’s desire was a good start. It is also noteworthy that Richard Pearle, one of the architects of the Iraq Invasion recently stated "I think we have an administration today that is dysfunctional. Though I don’t believe the Neoconservative approach to the world at large makes any practical or ideological sense, the age of empires being a thing of the past, I’m glad to see even this group acknowledging the ineptitude of the present Administration.
I agree that the Democrats were able to stick to their own game to win this one. It was more a case of the Democrats holding their ground while the Republicans imploded. It was the moderate and “truly conservative Republicans, and the Independents who made the difference. Democrats were talking about what they would do, even while the right wing spin denied this; yet in the end, it was a case of the Republicans doing everything wrong that did them in. They were so wrong, in fact, that it became obvious and unacceptable to many of their traditional supporters. It’s nice to know there is justice in the world, even if it sometimes requires some catch up time.
Renee, it sure appears that the moderate and conservative Republicans woke up and spoke out against what their party has been doing, and not doing. What I find noteworthy, however, is that in spite of this, so many in Butte, Glenn, Plumas and Yuba Counties here in Northern California, still stubbornly stuck with the same old “stay the course Bush rubber stampers, and re-elected Wally Herger and Rick Keene. There is still a lot of work to do. It appears to me that many who consider themselves traditionalists, are still not perceiving the difference between what they are promised and delivered by the same people they continue to support ad nauseam.

Diebold stole the election!
*crickets chirp*
That's odd...

Dare we feel a bit optimistic now? Or is it too soon?

Good question Mary, good question! I would have to suspect that it can't purposely get any worse than it has been. I do have to admit that the defensiveness of those recently replaced (as a party) is rather appalling; but one hopes that a way is found out of the colossal mess they have made in the last few years, so that they don't get to blame the new leadership if they can't immediately fix everything.

I have not read the other posts.........but it only took a couple of lines in your statement to know WE MADE IT!
I BELIEVE WE OVERCAME THE GOD WHISPERED TOO ME MAN........
I felt so proud that day....
My concern is, how fast can democrats take hold of this hot issure of Iraq and the conspiring traitors in the government........
They did not expect to lose period...........Our country has never needed clear thinking, motivated people for the people than we do now.
Of course, bush comes with the baggage......
Steve, these months in chat, and our personal exchanges at a private level....have shown so many different sides of people and why we get upset.
We had our chance to create a justice.......and we did. The rest is up to those who got seated. This is a major lesson to survive what is coming spiritually, emotionally, and physically with all the effects of the things they are hiding about the universe. The time is here, and now!.......just survival is ahead and understanding. We have indeed been in place for the universe to transpose it's energies and secrets upon us. Let's hope the scientists who quit because they were told to keep quiet give us some honesty, and stay alive doing it.
whoever you are reading this forgive me, I haven't slept in two days..........but I think Steve knows what I mean. I do hope you do too.
We have our chance, we proved the systems works inspite of what they tried to do....we are back to Americans that the world will trust again. The king is on a chain now playing goof as a president. They can hate him and love us.
My prayers are with the soldiers............and to have the needs of the people be met before we die....

Sparkles, I think Democrats need to take note of how many races Emanuel lost. Of the eight candidates he fielded, exactly two won. The rest were the products of the 50 State Strategy. Without that, there would have been almost no candidates ready and willing to step up to the plate when the opportunity arose. Dean's work continues to pay dividends for the party.
