Democrat business as usual

It is business as usual for the Congressional Democrats: Long-term Illinois Congressman and Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, the honorable John Conyers has stepped up and pronounced the following: He asked, what good would it do to read the bills such as the Cap and tax, stimulation fiasco bills, and the Obama bill to nationalize medicine? He said they would have to have a couple of lawyers on hand to tell them what the bills mean.......I am speechless. Practically every fat cat bureaucrat in Washington is a lawyer. Still upset about the Clinton impeachment, Conyers, who devoted most of the last eight years trying to find a way to impeach President Bush, has served in Congress since 1965. He is actually recommending that our government representatives vote on bills without reading them.
Democrats that control the Franking Committee have warned the Republican Congressmen they would refuse to grant them franking privileges is they voted against the health nationalization bill.
Countrywide Corporation was instrumental in the sub-prime mortgage loan business that handed out many bad loans that started the domino effect of bringing down our economy. Democrat politicians Chris Dodd, Barney Frank, Maxine Waters, and others defended such companies and protected them from congressional inspection. Because of VIP loans that the Countrywide Corporation gave to congressmen Chris Dodd and Kent Conrad, House Republicans have requested that the banking committee subpoena the company's records to determine if it had made shady preferential treatment loans to any other government bureaucrats. House Democrats, who now control everything, refused to do that. They claimed they had other more important things to do - probably to scope out new ways to get their hands in our pockets.
The "cash for clunkers" plan that the Obamaites concocted has collapsed after only 1 week - disorganized, uncoordinated, and running out of money already. It seems the 135 pages of rules the government gave the car dealers was still inadequate. I understand those bringing in their clunkers in return for $4500 on a better car had to sign an agreement to return the car if the government reneged on payment. Try to imagine handing over our huge complex health system to the bureaucratic bunglers.

Are they this stupid and hypocritical?

Many of those constituting the 52% percent that put Obama in office are surprised by the bad judgment of their Messiah who promised to make America a better place, provide everyone with free health care, free college education and their very own home. In short, there was going to be a "free lunch" for one and all. He has taxed, borrowed, quadrupled the deficit and is trying to throw out our proven health care system and replace it with a government run bureaucratic colossus. He is pressing hard to put everything into law at once before the public gets wise to the details of the plan. He seems oblivious to basic economics tenets and historical facts regarding the raising of taxes and the deficit. According to his actions, he is hell bent upon taking precisely the wrong action to get us out of the recession. Putting money in the hands of Americans and businesses means more dollars invested in buying products, expanding business, and hiring workers. Taxing anything causes less of it. Can the Democrats be this stupid and hypocritical? They raise taxes on tobacco to discourage smoking yet cannot understand that raising income taxes causes less consumer and business spending which helps the economy. If Obama and the Democrats wish to destroy the American free market economy, they are on the right path.

More laws = less liberty

Obama is turning our country into a quasi-totalitarian state with a big assist from the media and liberal-minded congress. The gradual movement toward Socialism in America that has been evolving for years is making giant strides now that the Democrat party and the most extreme President in history has complete control. Transforming a Free market Democracy into a government-controlled system does not occur in one violent thrust as it does with quasi-totalitarian banana republics in South America and military dictatorships in Africa. It happens one law at a time but steadfastly follows the uncomplicated formula, More Laws = Less Liberty. Our government bureaucrats at the various levels write thousands of laws every single year, thousands go into onto the books, and although well intentioned, they invariably reduce our freedom of choice. You see, the bureaucrats need to do something to justify their comfortable existence and still avoid ruffling any voter feathers by working serious problems. So they pass a myriad of new laws for our own good, because we are simply too stupid and irresponsible to take care of ourselves. We have seat belt laws, smoking bans and restrictions, helmet laws, and nutrition laws for restaurants. Now we have the ban on cell phone hands-on use while driving. The Enterprise Record (aka the Death, Destruction, and Disc Golf Bulletin,) albeit not a far left newspaper by any means, editorialized in support of the law in liberal "it's for your own good" media mode. The article stated that although it was a teeny bit of a Nanny State action, it was ok to erase another of our freedoms since it was for our own good.

His poor judgment is problematic

Regarding the case of the Cambridge police sergeant whom Obama said "acted stupidly" for investigating the Harvard Black Studies professor, and admitted he knew none of the details of the incident, Obama demonstrated for all to see his poor judgment. He said he know only that the sergeant had a call to investigate a possible break-in after the professor and another man forced entry into the professor's house and the sergeant took him in because of his belligerent, abusive behavior. The rash, impulsive, racially motivated statement was foolish for a minor community organizer, which is what Obama really is, and inexcusable of the man who will have to make so many critical decisions for our country. Today, he is attempting to quell the firestorm that he himself has inflamed. He gave this pathetic, political statement: "I think I unfortunately gave an impression that I was maligning the Cambridge Police Department or Sgt. Crowley." Yes, one might get that impression when Obama said Crowley acted stupidly. This affirmation of his poor judgment fits with his wrong-headed approach to fixing the recession with all his borrowing, taxing, deficit-setting, government health fiasco, and bank nationalizing that he is pushing and pushing for all of it at once. .

Non-presidential

Yesterday I wrote that, for the 48% of us who did not help put Obama in our highest office, his press conference confirmed his true character as a lying Chicago politician (a redundant phrase.) It also confirms that he has a racial bias against whites that he developed during his 20-year relationship with racist Jeremy Wright. Obama's reaction to a question about the white Cambridge policeman who responded to a homeowner call that a man was breaking into his neighbor's expensive home and was confronted by the black owner who had lost his key, and who became hostile and accused the police sergeant of racism, was anything but presidential. Obama said he knew no details of the situation, but, incredibly, he said the police officer was "belligerent and acted stupidly and suggested we have such a racism problem that this type situation is common." The President, in fact, acted stupidly by demonstrating his own internal resentments, making such a statement, involving himself without any knowledge of the facts and further inflaming the situation. The hostile, accusing homeowner is a Professor of African-American studies at Harvard who refused to identify himself and told the police officer he was "not a person to mess with." These ethnic studies professors have a chip on their shoulders and wake up every morning aching to do battle against any group or person who might slight them in some way. The truly poignant fact in this episode is that the police officer is 16 year respected veteran who has taught black studies at the police academy.

Whopper night at the Obama pep rally

The few who watched the Obama press conference and pep rally last night got a further glimpse into the character of the man that 52% of American voters placed in office. He confirmed that his position as the best liar we have had for our president, albeit we have never before had the bad luck to get a Chicago trained politician. His lapdog press questioned none of the prevarications confirming also that the media has long since given up any trace of integrity or objectivity. Finding a place to start a criticism is problematic since very little of what he said during those tedious 10-minute responses was true. Now that he is going to have to stop blaming Bush for the Economic mess, he is desperately trying to put a smiley face on what he has wrought. Biggest whopper of the night: He said the economy is improving, that the stimulus is working, that unemployment is decreasing, and the gargantuan government health plan he is proposing will help lower the deficit, not increase it. Each of these claims is a lie. His own Congressional Budget Office has reported its findings to Obama and Congress, and they report the precise opposite of these fictions. His big argument for foisting his national health program on taxpayers is that over 50% of Americans cannot afford health insurance. A just-out study found that only 12% have no health insurance; the remaining 38% have none for various personal reasons. He said a government health program would provide competition for private companies and that Americans who prefer could choose to keep their plan. The aforementioned study found that 80% are pleased with their plan, but that the government plan would drive them out of the market. Companies that now provide health care options will drop them, save a bundle of benefit costs and let the nanny state pay for it. This, of course, means the American taxpayers will foot the bill.

Cannot waste a good crisis

through the Cap and Trade law that ostensibly will remedy the fabricated problem that we have a man-mad global warming problem? The act would place another nail into the American economic coffin by raising prices on all petroleum product related goods, causing more job losses, and raising taxes for every American. At the same time, they are trying to bum-rush their socialized medicine proposal through the Congress urgently insisting they pass it before summer recess before they have a chance to study it. Obama and his wrecking crew can see clearly that the public is beginning to become wise to their scams and they are afraid the perfect opportunity to fully destroy our free market system will have passed. The Democrats have the power and, for the moment, have public approval poll numbers, and are running with it as fast as they can while the opportunity is still there. Obama's chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel, is infamously quoted as saying it would be a shame to waste a crisis. The liar in the White House said it is imperative we pass the government controlled medicine system by August, yet in a separate speech said most of the system will not take effect until 2013. In Marxist fashion, the administration is promoting a special 5 percent tax on wealthy Americans. New York, with its own added unfair taxes, is burdening its taxpayers with a 57% bill. The Cap and Trade tax bill that the House passed will probably become law, and that will mean a tax on every single American, which typically causes a particular hardship for lower income Americans.

Leaky Leahy and the Judiciary Committee

I heard today the most convincing argument that Judge Sonia Sotomayor is unfit for appointment to a lifetime, no revoking position on the highest court in the land. Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Leahy did the trick. Although Leahy was insistent upon an approval vote today, he grudgingly agreed to waiting for one week, I assume to give a misleading impression of fairness. He would only go so far with this impression, because he included the guarantee that the committee would approve the nomination. That statement may have been is the most honest statement the slimy Leahy ever uttered, because the Republicans have insufficient power on the committee offer anything but token defense. Leahy, aka Senator Leaky, was at one time on the Intelligence Committee and is the only Senator the Committee ever canned for leaking government/military secrets to the press. One can learn much about the way Sotomayer will rule on the court with a brief look at her past statements and the type groups that are supporting her. Of course, for starters, Obama picked her and he was the most liberal Senator in Congress and is now proving our most liberal President. You know about her racist statements and declaration that appellate courts really do make rather than judge the law. The following groups have fallen in line to support her nomination: abortion rights group NARAL, unions, Mexican/American groups, Immigration liberalization groups and anti-gun groups.

Hit them before they get wise

Have you noticed the urgency with which Obama has been trying to force through the Cap and Trade law that ostensibly will remedy the fabricated problem that we have a man-mad global warming problem? The act would place another nail into the American economic coffin by raising prices on all petroleum product related goods, causing more job losses, and raising taxes for every American. Obama and his wrecking crew can see that the public is beginning to become wise to this scam and they are afraid the opportunity to fully destroy our free market system will have passed. The Democrats have the power and, for the moment, have public approval poll numbers, and are running with it as fast as they can while the opportunity is still there. Obama's chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel, is infamously quoted as saying it would be a shame to waste a crisis.

Who to trust?

I realize it is unseemly to bad-mouth the recently deceased, but in this case, it is just too difficult to abstain. Walter Cronkite has passed away and the media is bombarding us with one sappy encomium after another. One outlet noted that at one time, Cronkite's audience was so large, and his image so credible, that a 1972 poll found he was "the most trusted man in America" - even more trusted than the president, vice president, Congress and all other journalists. In truth, he was a left-biased promoter of the Democrat Party and all its goals. In later years, he stopped even putting up a fairness front. Historians say that he almost single-handedly caused our government to stop supporting the South Vietnamese and indirectly caused us to lose everything there including the total loss of the country to Communism. As expected, Obama, the most liberally biased president in our history, chimed in with, "For decades, Walter Cronkite was the most trusted voice in America; Walter set the standard by which all others have been judged." Surely that is true; the CBS news staff is still predominately a liberal, biased, bunch that gives us their impression of the news, rather than the straight stuff. Another famous CBS news anchor, Dan Rather, lost his job after years of trusted news providing by inventing false stories about President Bush. The American public has always been a bit careless about to whom it puts its trust.

Things are changing

The most liberal administration in history and predominately anti-private property, anti free market, anti-business, anti-free enterprise, left-wing media are having their way. We are witnessing a historic period for America: The death of the free enterprise system. A writer opined that the stimulation package created the American welfare state. We are fast approaching a situation where half of all Americans pay no taxes, where the government is bleeding dry the hardest working and most productive and supporting the non-productive as dependents. This seems Obama's goal, because once that happens, the dependent group will keep the Obama types in power into perpetuity. Les Gelb, president emeritus of the Council on Foreign Relations, wrote in CFR's Foreign Affairs magazine, "The United States is declining as a nation and a world power with mostly sighs and shrugs from the public to mark this seismic event," and "Astonishingly, some people do not appear to realize that the situation is all that serious." One can already see the deterioration of the once foremost American world prestige. China is saving, investing, and growing at 8 percent. America, awash in debt, has a shrinking economy, a huge trade deficit, a gutted industrial base, an unemployment rate surging toward 10 percent and a money supply that has swollen to double its size in a year. Someone said, "The 20th century may have been the American Century. The 21st shows another pattern."

Imposter on the American scene

The environmental global warming issue is an imposter on the American scene that refuses unmasking. The Freddie Kruger of leftist political frauds nurtured and abetted by the media and educators. They have proved that once a lie imbeds itself into the public mindset, it is almost impossible to excise it. A group of prominent atmospheric scientists sent a letter to Congress saying, "You are being deceived about global warming. ... The Earth has been cooling for ten years." Congressional Democrats would hear none of it. The National Weather Service reports that New York and many other parts of Eastern United States had one of the coldest June months in history. A couple of months ago, the world's top climatologists, 650 strong, met at a Global Warming conference in Poznan, Poland. They concluded that man-made global warming is non-existent, has no foundation whatever, and the increase in carbon is unrelated to global warming. Most importantly, they agreed there is no (as in none, nada, nichts) global warming, man-made or otherwise. Climatologist Dr. David Gee, Chairman of the International Geological Congress, said, "For how many years must the planet cool before we begin to understand that the planet is not warming?" Naturally, I had to pause and ponder this, because the press, albeit corrupt and without credibility, makes references to global warming at every opportunity and points out the urgent need for remedial action. Self-serving Al Gore is still making the rounds telling us we will all fry to a crisp in a couple of years if we don't make massive changes, even knowing the changes will cripple our economy. Why in the world anyone believes anything from a man who once said he invented the Internet, is another story. Our new president speaks grandly of the global warming problem and promises to come up with new government programs to fix it all. One of Jughead's new advisors has just told us we will destroy our environment in four years. Teachers have ensured that an entire generation of young people thinks we are seconds from an environmental Armageddon.

What is the most troubling?

Is the fact that Supreme Court nominee, Sonia Sotomayor, has repeatedly shown she is a racist and believer in judicial activism the most troubling thing about the affair? How about the fact that she voted to deny qualified Connecticut firefighters a promotion because no minorities had qualified on the same exam? How about her attempted concealment of that act by making the decision by "judicial review" so that it could not go before a jury and thus become public? What about her statement that a Hispanic woman is more qualified to rule on cases than a white man? Is the most troubling thing the fact she exposed that she is also a liar, because lied about the firefighter case when she said there was a legal precedent for the decision she made? No, the most troubling thing about the Sotomayor fiasco is the the liberal Democrat Judiciary Committee will force her nomination and make her a lifetime member of the Supreme Court, because the minority of Republicans are powerless to stop it.

Lifetime appointment for a racist

To the surprise of nobody who pays attention to Democrat politics and the dirty tricks with which they are associated, Democrat dirty tricksters are going after the firefighter that caused the truth to surface about supreme court nominee Sonia Sotomayer. His and his firefighter mates are the subject of the famous case that highlighted for the country that Sotomayer is a racist and unfit to hold a lifetime appointment to the court. Sotomayer ruled that the Connecticut white firefighters could not be promoted in spite of their scoring highest on the examination for the reason that no blacks or Hispanics were going to be promoted at that time since none scored high enough. Under appeal, the Supreme Court overturned the decision just as it has done for five of six of Sotomayer's rulings. She has bluntly stated that judges cannot just put aside personal bias; that, by nature, it is a factor in the decisions. She said that courts do in fact make law - a head on collision with the Constitution. She provided the infamous quote that the Obama gang and the media have worked hard at minimizing, that a Hispanic woman is more qualified to rule on cases than a white man. Take a guess at what the uproar would be like if Justice Roberts had said that a white man is more qualified to sit on the court than a Puerto Rican woman.

He only lies when necessary

We should all go out and celebrate; Obama says our economy is recovering. Stop worrying about your life savings plummet, no more concern about losing your job and making those home utility payments. Go down and trade for a new car. After all, joblessness has gone up another month but not as much as last month. The stock market has gone down some more last week but not quite as much as the week before. More home mortgages have defaulted, but it is only fallout from before. The value of the dollar has diminished some more. I know, I know, Obama guaranteed the urgent $787 stimulus bill would keep the unemployment rate from reaching 8 percent, and it is now about to broach 10 percent, it is only a matter of a few hundred thousand more jobs lost. Still, Obama said things are looking rosy and Obama never lies....well, not too much and only when necessary.

Beyond comprehension

Obama's mean-nothing talk with Russian leaders about some kind of memorandum of agreement about limiting nuclear weapons between the two countries and his flowery speech about progress are as empty as his integrity vessel. He said his "Joint Understanding" with Russia will be a great boon, setting an example to enable us to better pressure North Korea and Iran to give up their nuclear programs. Charles Krauthammer commented, "That a man of Obama's intelligence can believe such nonsense is beyond comprehension." Further," The very notion that Kim Jong Il or Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will suddenly abjure nukes because of yet another U.S.-Russian treaty is comical." Obama the appeaser has taken our countries economy down a destructive path to which we may or may not be able to recover. Let us hope he does not do the same to our national security.

Transformation of America

Commenting on the speaking styles of various leaders, a linguist said that the smooth-talking Obama can deliver a long answer to a question that is filled with nice-sounding sentences full of beautiful words, yet, after he finishes, one has no idea what he said. On the other hand, George Bush would fumble words and scramble syntax while answering a question and the listener know exactly what he was saying. Obama makes up the facts as he goes along, never having heard of Patrick Moynihan's (the last honest Democrat politician) quote: "Everyone is entitled to his own opinions, but not his own facts." President Slickster generally limits his blatant lies, but has a way with deflecting the questions, responding off the topic, and saying nothing. During his MidEast visit, in response to his position on Iran's getting a nuclear weapon, he said he is "not reconciled to the idea of Iran obtaining a nuclear weapon within a year." Responding to a question about the Iranian street protesters' practically begging for America's support after their rigged election, he said, "It's not productive, given the history of U.S.-Iranian relations, to be seen as meddling," His adoring public and press allowed him to get by with presenting this non-sequitir as a position. Given that he had vowed to close Gitmo during the campaign, a questioner asked whether he recommended keeping terrorist prisoners there. He responded with another non-sequitir as follows: "indefinite detentions give me huge pause." The man is a weak, pacifist, non-leader who is incapable of taking a definite position on anything except his objective of turning the country into a socialist, government run society. In fact, he has had great success in that regard, having transformed America in only six months. A foreign newspaper commented that, with the advent of Obama, the America that the world has always known is gone. The government now pacifies and placates its enemies such as Iran and pressures its allies such as Israel. That paper has no idea how poignant is that statement, because, as an outsider, it cannot know the full extent of which the Obama crowd has taken us.

Cleaning up his legacy

Colin Powell, whom many mistakenly saw as a trustworthy and honorable man, is apparently trying to make amends. Make amends, that is, for tossing out principle, betraying his lifelong party that awarded him office of Secretary of State and jumping the Republican ship to endorse a fellow black man. After supporting the unprepared, inept Obama for president and harshly criticizing his own party, he is now making a halfhearted move to salvage his reputation. He does not want his legacy to be that he betrayed his party because of race and, by some, that he betrayed his country when he made the elaborate case for Iraq's weapons of mass destruction to the U.N. He recently made the following statement: "I think one of the cautions that has to be given to the president - and I've talked to some of his people about this - is that you can't have so many things on the table that you can't absorb it all. And we can't pay for it all," Powell said further, "And I never would have believed that we would have budgets that are running into the multi-trillions of dollars, and we are amassing a huge, huge national debt that, if we don't pay for in our lifetime, our kids and grandkids and great grandchildren will have to pay for it." At the time Powell jumped ship to help get a black man elected president, he lamely explained that the Republican Party had gotten just too conservative - a situation he had not noticed before Obama came on the scene as a probable nominee.

Immoral and erroneous

Obama was one of the Democrat politicians who publicly decried the Iraq surge, said it was doomed to failure, called it another Bush mistake and that he would immediately pull our troops out if elected president. Now that the surge has been successful and we are seeing an orderly takeover by the new Iraq government and a scheduled withdrawal, he of the forked tongue is speaking glowingly about our success and, incredibly, actually taking credit for it. The man has not a scintilla of integrity; he is a pure Chicago Democrat lawyer/politician, who would tell any lie or bend any principle to ingratiate himself to others. On his recent pilgrimage to the Mideast, he enthusiastically curried favor with Muslims - who already have a misunderstood view of America - by criticizing his own country. He has no compunction about dishonestly equating America's negatives with those of other nations. He equated our support for Israel with Israel's handling of the Palestinian issue with the Holocaust - an immoral and erroneous comparison.

Cavalcade of crooks

The cavalcade of crooked Democrat politicians continues: John Conyers, Head of the House Judiciary Committee, is embroiled in his politician wife, Monica Conyers', criminal indictment - she has plead guilty to accepting bribes. Conyers has been in the House of Representatives for 44 years, which is 44 years too long. He spent most of the last eight years trying to convince the Congress to bring impeachment charges against George Bush instead of tending to the nation's business. This parade never seems to end. We had the Louisiana congressman, cold cash Jefferson, who accepted bribes and actually had $85,000 stashed in his freezer. We had the lurid episode of Democrat Party fundraiser Norman Hsu's conviction of violating campaign law with donations to John Kerry, Hillary Clinton, and others. Several others should be serving time instead of office. Crooks such as Florida Congressman Alcee Hastings who is the only impeached judge, sitting in the U.S. Congress and the Democrat head of the U.S. Senate, Harry Reid, for his involvement in the Nevada land deal swindle. More recently, we witnessed the struggle that the new Democrat administration had in successfully coming up with candidates for the new offices, who had not cheated on their taxes. How much more of this DemPol criminal exposure would we see if the party didn't have the media firmly in its pocket?
