It is possible that Obama is purposefully lying to the American people when he is delivering one of his glib sermonettes, for example when he told us the unemployment rate would never reach 8 percent or that there would be no tax increase for anyone earning over $250K. On the other hand, he knows that he has a subservient media and a cult following that will swallow anything that he merely feels free to say whatever comes to mind. In any case, extreme Liberals such as Obama have proven they are devotees of the philosophy that the end justifies the means, because they are so convinced of their views that they are without reservations about lying, because, in the end - utopian equality for everyone - things will work out perfectly. The liar-in-chief told us that the Cap-trade act that the Democrats forced through the House would cost each American family only a measly $175 per year. Given the same data, the most extensive study so far, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology analysis, estimated it would cost each person $3000. Statisticians sometimes lie with statistics; liars just plain lie. More telling, the study found that the affect that Cap-trade will have in reducing the carbon footprint would be only 2 percent in 100 years. Moreover, this fiasco would result in a net loss of jobs, not a gain.

The Democrat politicians now in control of Congress have done it again: taken another big step in destroying the American economy by handcuffing business. They did their trick of passing through another partisan bill without allowing the members and the public to read and debate it by narrowly passing the cap-and-trade legislation Friday evening, 219 to 212. It is the most destructive and misguided bill that the mindless Nancy Pelosi and her left-wing zealots have yet forced upon Americans. Clearly, this law will increase the cost of electricity, energy, and all other energy-related bills for everyone and will be particularly severe for lower income people. Practically, this is a tax increase for every American constituting another Obama lie to add to the growing list; he vowed not to raise taxes for anyone making under $250,000. He also says the energy bill will increase "green" jobs; possibly, since the bureaucrats will use taxpayer funds to subsidize green jobs and create artificial programs. The net effect wil be a loss of jobs throughout the energy industry. Obama also lied to us when he said the outrageous stimulus package would create millions of jobs and would prevent unemployment from rising above 8 percent. We have lost 1.6 million jobs since the misguided bill and unemployment is running between 9 and 10 percent across the country. The liar-in-chief says we are developing alternative energy and will be heavy into solar and wind. He is either ignorant that those alternatives are more costly to develop than fossil fuels. We develop only 1 percent of our energy from solar and wind; after the incompetent, corrupt bureaucrats get a grasp on the technology, we will develop 2 percent.

The Banking Queen is back
Somebody please tell me I am not dreaming. Remember the Community Reinvestment Act instructing banks to make sub-prime loans with the government securing those ill-advised loans. Remember the legislation that Bureaucrat Banking Queen Barney Frank spearheaded to force tens of thousands of risky mortgage loans to unqualified buyers and that, inevitably failed and brought down the entire market and the economy along with them. Incredibly, the same Barney Frank is demanding that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac relax their recently tightened standards for mortgages on new condominiums. In a letter to the two companies, Frank, who is chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, and Anthony Weiner told the banks to "make appropriate adjustments" to their underwriting standards for condos, that will make loans more available. This is an example of the most maddening thing about politicians like Barney Frank: regardless of how egregious, dishonest, or crooked their actions, they stare into the public eye and deny, deny, and deny. They shift the blame in very convincing terms; then they often boldly repeat the same bad acts. Several years ago, authorities found that a male prostitution ring was operating out of Frank's house. He suffered a little minor embarrassment, used his power and influence to avoid prosecution, and walked away unscathed - a major player in today's corrupt, unethical Democrat party along with the impeached judges, influence peddlers, and bribe-takers.

Ace political commentator Michael Barone concisely summarized the short frantic reign of Barack Obama: "Incoherent public policy, indefensible pork barrel projects, a carbon emissions bill that doesn't limit carbon emissions from politically connected industries and a health care program priced by the Congressional Budget Office at a fiscally unfeasible $1,600,000,000,000. "His assumption that friendly words could melt the hearts of Kim Jong Il and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad have been refuted by events. "Those who stand in the way, like the Chrysler secured creditors, are told that their reputations will be destroyed. Those who expose wrongdoing by political allies, like the AmeriCorps inspector general, are fired." Yesterday, the Liar-in-chief once again addressed the American public and attempted to perform his magic of schmoozing his way out of the total failure of his policies. He once again demonstrated his ability to use style to trump substance. Pure political animal that he is, he had some criticism of Iran's subjugation of dissidents after new polls showed public disappointment in his remarks of those events. I would like to think that the public is starting to doubt the narcissistic neophyte but have no reason to believe so judging from recent history. Of course, the lapdog media helps enormously in glorifying their messiah; in yesterday's news briefing, the press asked not a single question about North Korea - clearly the most serious world problem. They did, however, inquire about his smoking habit. Polls show that a majority of Americans like Obama regardless of whether they approve of his policies. Writer Burt Prelutsky" said that this "adoration would absolutely confound me if I wasn't already aware that a lot of people think David Letterman and Bill Maher are funny."

Obama told us when he over the car industry, took control of the banks, and the removed a few of our other freedoms that such actions were necessary to protect us. He is apparently protecting us from an excess of liberty. He said he would resolve the global warming issue - whether or not is it is actually an issue. He said he would sit down and have a nice conversation with North Korea and Iran and those bad boys would become our friends. Like many other of his promises, we have seen no indication of results; in fact, the world, as with the economy, is worse off now than it was when the Great Promiser took charge. It has been like dropping a stone down a well and never hearing a splash. On his first day in office, Obama pledged to usher in a "new era" of openness in government. He said he was going to bring unprecedented transparency to his administration. Last week, his "open government" rejected a Freedom of Information Act request for Secret Service logs showing the identities of coal executives who had visited the White House to discuss Obama's "clean coal" policies. This refusal to disclose information is just the latest in a number of cases when Obama officials have refused to disclose information to the public. In typical slimeball, lawyer, bureaucrat manner, the highly publicized transparancy directive that the Attorney General signed decreed federal agencies to adopt a "presumption" of disclosure," and then followed up with the phrase, "if practicable." Absolutely no one can parse words the way Democrat bureaucrats can.

We are learning the syntax of Obama-speak. Our new president and his wise guys have set a new standard for talking out of both sides of the mouth, giving two diametrically opposed views in the same speech. The Bloomberg Report did a cursory study and found that, since Obama's efforts to save the Banks, they have been closing at an increased rate, and that 36 major banks have now closed. The Obama administration considered the situation grave enough to warn us that "the worst is yet to come." Those same sources, the liar-in-chief and his minion masters of doublespeak, said, practically in the next breath, that "the worst is over, that "economic conditions are improving,the light at the end of the tunnel and all such bull hockey. FDIC Chairman Sheila Bair said on May 12 that banks have "moved beyond the liquidity crisis of last year, and we are now in the cleanup phase," A few days later, the same Sheila Bair said "To be honest, there's still more pain to go." Some wag said that, according to the Obama people, it looks like the economy is getting better because it is getting worse or possibly it is getting worse because it is getting better. He added that we should expect many more reports from the Obama administration confidently informing us that worse is better and better is worse, and to hear from the new crowd in Washington "good news" with straight faces. One day, I hope, the American public is going to wake up and realize that all the nice sounding words that slick-talking Obama has laid upon us about how his big government, socialistic methods are going to turn our economy around are just that - words. Nothing of the slickmeister's actions have helped - only made things worse.

The Heargland Institute held the third annual International Conference on Climate Change. Joseph L. Bast, president of the Institute labeled as "popular delusion the current conventional wisdom on the issue - that man-made emissions, notably carbon dioxide, from the burning of fossil fuels is dangerously heating up the planet," Carbon dioxide, they declared, is not a pollutant that we should be regulating, as the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the Supreme Court now hold; it is a necessity for plant and sea life. They pointed out the amazing action of Obama to enact the "cap-and-trade" program aimed at fighting global warming by drastically limiting carbon emissions. Similar to his actions against the economy, this is a wrongheaded attempt at a erroneously perceived problem. Attacking a non-existent problem and making America worse for it.
Bast and other attendees described the proposed programs as a complete waste of money, with potentially crippling consequences for the economy, and without any attainable goals. Because of the state-run media, left-wing educators, enviro-nuts, and the tremendous amount of money out there in government grants and subsidies for the taking by scheming opportunists, the global warming/carbon limiting ruse has taken on a life of its own. Nothing, it seems, can derail this ruse regardless of facts. Leftist California Congressman Henry Waxman said of the environment, "It doesn't matter if the planet is cooling and plants need it to live. We still have to ban carbon dioxide."

Having experienced first hand a life under the rule of a Marxist government and then the turmoil and struggle of re-emerging as a generally free country, the Russians are quick to se what is happening in America. The news outlet Pravda recently printed, "It must be said that like the breaking of a great dam, the American decent into Marxism is happening with breathtaking speed, against the back drop of a passive, hapless sheep-like American populace surrendering their freedoms." The article described the process of a new regime taking over the country and transforming it into a government dominated Marxist state as follows: First, those in control dumbed down the population through a politicized and substandard education system based on pop culture, rather then the classics. Pravda commented, "Americans know more about their favorite TV dramas then the drama in Washington that directly affects their lives. Then they destroyed the faith in God and then the state took over the press." We Americans were already ahead of the curve as to having a propaganda emitting state controlled media, since our media has been in the bag for Obama from day one. In fact, we have suffered with a biased press for many years before their messiah came to prominence last year. The major media reporters are the gatekeepers of what information the public receives and, for years, they have given us their liberal slant on national and world news. We are the victims of agenda journalism. I have long since given up any trust I had of the meda.

Jimma Carter may have been our most inept president, but Obama is arguably our worst president. Worst because of what he is dong to our country. In less than one year, the speed of our new president's agenda has been truly noteworthy. He and his politburo have set records in borrowing, quadrupling the debt, out of control spending, and inflation causing money printing in our history. A commentator said that, "If this keeps up, and there is no sign that it will not, America at best will resemble the Weimar Republic and at worst Zimbabwe." Even worse than the destruction of our free-market economy, we are sinking into a morass of regulatory tyranny, soft despotism and saddled with a virtual state-controlled media. Every new government action subtracts a little more from our freedoms and, with a complicit virtual state-run media and weak political opposition, there is no end in sight. A sick indication of this movement is a new Obama pronouncement that his bureaucrats have had a change their minds: the government will not decide upon the salaries of private corporation managers - just the managers of companies that received stimulus money. Judging from the statements he made in Muslim countries during his recent Medeast trip, he clearly has mixed feelings about his country; he not only humiliated and degraded his country but also showed a false picture of Americans and America to people who already have a negatively biased view.

Our ersatz president, Obama, may well be the Neville Chamberlain of our time. Chamberlain took his high public approval rating and world renown with him to Munich in 1938 where he kissed the feet of Adolph Hitler, praised the Nazi regime's accomplishments, and co-signed a peace pact with Hitler. Upon his arrival back in England, he proudly waved the agreement before the press and announced that he had attained, "peace in our time." Historians later found that Hitler had mocked Chamberlain, calling him a weak, naïve pacifist and, as anyone who knows history more than Obama seems to understand it, Der Fuhrer stared World War 2 by invading Poland one year later. Our ersatz President went to Cairo, schmoozed the Muslim world, talked of how we must work with our Muslim friends, avoid conflict, and how we must set straight those pugnacious Israelis. Having a tendency to lie on such occasions, our new leader threw in a couple of whoppers to attempt to ingratiate himself with one of the Mideast's dictators by claiming that the great Muslims had invented Algebra, the magnetic compass, and a few other things that, of course, they didn't do. He commented that there was a moral equivalence between the Holocaust and the Palestinians - an ignorant and insensitive statement exhibiting the influence of his anti-Semite mentor Jeremiah Wright. With striking similarity to the British raptures over Neville Chamberlain appeasement trip to Germany, our virtual state-controlled media gushed over Obama's trip and had no problem with an American president traveling in the Mideast and criticizing and apologizing for his country.

One of our ersatz President's (a replacement until we can get a real president and leader) long-time mentors, Reverend Wright has resurfaced in the news; his ilk cannot seem to stay out of the news for very long. When a reporter asked him if he had spoken to the president, Wright said that he had not done so because, "Them Jews aren't going to let him talk to me. I told my baby daughter, that he'll talk to me in five years when he's a lame duck, or in eight years when he's out of office." He added, "They will not let him to talk to somebody who calls a spade a spade."......Ok, those are his words, not mine; I stopped using that metaphor back when political correctness became our deity in America. Reverse racist and anti-Semite Wright also said Obama should have sent a U.S. delegation to the World Conference on Racism held recently in Geneva, Switzerland, but that the president did not do so for fear of offending Jews and Israel. Of course, Rev Wright can make outrageous statements and Obama, with his selective hearing, will not take notice; after all, he sat in Wright's church for two years and never knew that the extremist preacher was dispensing anti-Semitic, anti-American sermons. Our state-controlled media has no comment about the ugly outburst, although Wright has been Obama's long-time friend and mentor. Regarding our partisan media's silence on this particular item, I suppose it is better to be uninformed than misinformed.

Obama told us the economy is showing signs of recovery as indicated by national unemployment data, although two days later, the government's own data showed that unemployment is growing. California, because of its inept, corrupt legislative body, now has 11 percent unemployed. The Liar-in-chief panned for some positive gold to show the public and the best he could come up with was this nugget. He rationalized his newest statement about the economy not because the unemployment has decreased, but because the increase in the jobless is less than it was last month. This type of spinning is typical of the pap the media ignoramuses and the Democrat Bureaucrats give us when they are bereft of any authentic good news. The truth about our economy is that we are witnessing first hand the destruction of the most powerful and successful economic engine the world has ever seen. One has to ponder whether Obama is really President Clueless and fails to understand what he is doing by nationalizing private industry, forging trade barriers, quadrupling the deficit, and taxing those who make the market go. This would assume that he is unbelievably ignorant of economics, capitalism, and the market system. Or is it that he is so cunningly machiavellian that he is systematically tearing down our capitalistic, free-market system and remaking it into a government controlled, repressive, socialist system.

Our adoring media and uninformed public have elevated Obama to a status rivaling sainthood. So much so that a thoughtful writer analyzed the parallel between Obama's rise to power and prominence to that of tyrant Juan Peron's ascendance in Argentina, right down to the similarity of Michelle Obama and Eva Peron - both wives aloof, vaguely arrogant personalities with a chip on their shoulders. When the voters elected Obama, Mama Obama said she was proud of her country for the first time in her life. Both Peron and Obama have a neo-Marxist philosophy and both immediately acted to nationalize private companies and moved to create a dependent class of ignorant citizens through erosion of individuality, welfare, entitlement programs, and redistribution of wealth. That is, redistribution of wealth for everyone except the ruling class, of course, and special interest groups such as the unions, lawyers, and environmental groups. However, there is at least one major difference between these two despotic regimes. Juan Peron never traveled the world denigrating his country and apologizing for past offenses in front of foreigners in an effort to ingratiate himself personally. Totalitarian dictator that he was, Peron always sang the praises of his home country. Obama, having studied at the feet of anti-Americans Jeremiah Wright and domestic terrorist bombers Bernadine Dorn and William Ayers, rarely misses a chance to trash his country.

I have always thought that Bill Clinton and Al Gore were co-holders of the title of biggest liar in the modern Democrat party. Although they are quite skilled liars, they are mere pikers compared to our new leader, who tells a new lie daily whether he needs to or not. Like them, he lies about pointless or insignificant things that he somehow thinks will ingratiate him to the listeners and, oddly, things that a casual observer can often easily disprove. Reference Clinton's, "I did not have sex with that woman," and Gore's fib that he invented the Internet or that the book Love Story was based upon he and his wife, Kipper, Pipper, Tipper, or whatever her name is. Liar-in-chief, Obama told us a few months ago that his Great Uncle was among the handful of 89th Infantry soldiers who liberated Auschwitz. He said the experience was so traumatizing that his uncle, upon returning home, entered his attic and remained there, like a recluse, for six months. A journalist who was more historically literate than our new leader pointed out that the Russians liberated Auschwitz, not the Americans. Under such pointed refutation, Obama's handlers said that their leader had actually meant to say his uncle liberated the Buchenwald death camp. This satisfied the rare Obama doubters and, of course, the media that is so far in the tank for Obama that he can say whatever he wants without fear of challenge. Now we hear that the not quite as sanguine German publication, Der Spiegel, contacted the Obama uncle for an interview regarding the historic event. The elderly veteran said he had never discussed his war effort with his nephew and certainly had not said that he liberated the death camp. And so it goes..........

Speaking to an audience during his Middle East trip, Obama said that owing to the large number of Muslims in our country, we are a Muslim country. Mmmm. This is, of course, a lie, but it is clearly just a patronizing attempt to ingratiate himself to Muslims around the area. Therefore, I hate to waste such a pathetic, although demeaning to Americans, statement on the Lie-of-the-Day entry. The liar-in-chief said also during this trip that Iran has a right to have a nuclear capability. You remember Iran. Their leader, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, is the nutjob who still insists he will wipe the nation of Israel from the face of the earth, and could do it in 10 days. That B.O. sure says some odd things. Now in Egypt, Obama cranked up the horse doot by telling his audience how intelligent and remarkable they were for inventing Algebra, the magnetic compass, arches and spires architecture, and just about any other technology except the Internet, because as we know, Al Gore invented that. The Greeks, Romans, Incans, and Chinese created almost every invention that the Liar-in-chief attributed to Muslims long before Mohammed was born. The topper was when Obama, although disagreeing with Ahmadinejad's claim that the Holocaust never happened - only a fiction dreamed up by Jews - made a moral equivalence between the Holocaust and the Palestinian people. This is not only a monumental lie, but also an insult to the six million Jews that Hitler murdered.

We should have a "lie of the day" log to chronicle the whoppers coming out of our new leadership. When his kool-aid drunk followers eventually realize how seriously the Obama's statements differ from his actions, they can see how deluded some can be about a charismatic phony. Our liar-in-chief, Obama, has just told another big one by announcing that the Democrat-labeled "stimulus package" is starting to show positive results. No, the economy is showing no such improvement. It has deteriorated since the stimulus, and many economists think it is the stimulus has caused the deterioration. More workers are unemployed, and although unemployment is a major indicator of economic health, Obama, his minions, and the virtual state run media have avoided this data. The dollar has weakened, more small business bankrupted, the mortgage foreclosure rate has increased (one in seven home mortgages is in default), and the national product has fallen. Again, the truth matters not at all; the anointed one can lie to his pleasure and suffer no recrimination. Writer Jonah Goldberg said the lie to the public about the economy "is not only deeply offensive, it is "nonsense on stilts."

The Liar-In-Charge, Obama the Wonderful, announced today that the government is not interested in running a car company; he did this as he informed us that the government is taking over control of G.M., which will now be a state owned company ala the Soviet Union. This misdeed is doomed to failure, and the Obama crowd once again demonstrates their inability to learn from history. A few years ago, the British government took over Rolls Royce, and a little later, British Leyland car companies. Both failed miserably, and when Margaret Thatcher became P.M., she privatized the companies and they became successful again. This conversion of G.M. to a virtual state owned company is the worst travesty that Washington bureaucrats have ever perpetrated upon the American people and our capitalist system. The L.I.C. said a great deal about the takeover. He threw out a lot of nice sounding words to mitigate what he has done, but, to cut through the crap, here is the short version: The only gainers from this leap into fascist-socialism are the Marxists among the left-wing hard core, who dream of transforming America into a socialist state and the auto-workers unions that got this deal in return for partial control along with the government and their continued support of Obama. The formula is as follows: take from the taxpayers, give to left-wing allies, and destroy the American market-driven, free economy in the process.
