Worth Every Penny

A crowd of about 10,000 University of Colorado students gathered Sunday for their annual celebration of marijuana and at 4pm lit up their joints for the big smoke-out.

Thousands wore green or T-shirts promoting pot and proclaiming freedom from the tyranny of the law. They climbed trees, played the bongos, danced, cavorted, snapped pictures and had picnics. Some students used the event to promote their next favorite issue; one young man passed out Rice Krispy treats with messages asking that everyone demonstrate against the injustices in Darfur. However, the typical message – and one many puffers thought will be a big issue in the upcoming election - was the demand for marijuana decriminalization. A freshman co-ed said she “felt part of something bigger than just a smoke-out.” She said she that “this is a big part of the reason I applied here - for the weed atmosphere.”
Doesn’t it make you proud that so many of our young people can go off to college nowadays and major in fields such as Earth Sciences, Environmental Psychology, Sociology, and Cultural Diversity? The parents who provide the thousands of dollars for tuition, books, room, food, lattes, and pot must be thrilled that their sacrifice was worth every penny.
These young tokers, whom the leftist university staff has filled with environmental looniness, have hypocritically failed to consider how their actions contradict their beliefs. I guess pot takes precedence over the environment since 10,000 burning weeds must make a heavy carbon footprint and produce a lot of polluting particulate matter.
