The Economically Clueless DemPols

One of the most ad-nauseam complaints the Democrats make is that so many jobs have gone overseas.

Naturally, the complainers are the very same people who call for higher taxes on business. The cool light of reality never shines upon these folks about basic economics. The essence of business is to make a profit, reinvest, grow, prosper, hire more workers, and provide a product at the best price. Profit making is number one because everything else depends upon it, so why would a company pay 35% corporate income tax when it can move overseas, pay only 25%, and produce more at a better price? We have the second highest corporate income tax in the world. The economically clueless DemPols invariably respond to the victimhood-obsessed complaints about high CEO salaries and company profits, by raising corporate taxes. Get the picture? They have more than me so Mother government must take from them. This confiscates funds destined for capital investment, growth, and hiring workers. Democrat politicians really couldn’t care less whether their actions hurt the economy as long as they can pretend to do something positive and stay in their cushy jobs. Both Obama and Clinton plan to raise income taxes, raise the capital gains tax, and maintain the death tax – that’s the one where, upon your passing, the government confiscates a huge chunk of the already taxed nest egg you’ve saved for your children. Raising taxes puts more of our money into the bureaucrat’s hands where it goes to earmarks and wasteful home projects. It is inarguable that cutting income taxes and capital gains taxes stimulates the economy which benefits everyone and brings in even more tax revenue than tax increases.

Food in Our Gas Tanks

The leftist media has been making an all-out effort to portray the home mortgage problems, high gas prices, and low value of the dollar as an economic “crisis.”

Some of the falling sky crowd has even blamed the world food shortage on man-made global warming turning their liberal little heads away from the real issues. The bureaucrat politicians, feeling the itch to do something about gas prices, are taking taxpayer money to pay farmers to take 15 million acres of U.S. farm land out of food production, and convert it to growing corn for ethanol. Nice for the farmers but bad for everyone else. This lame, misguided attempt to do something about the high oil prices – put food in our gas tanks instead of gas – is rife with unintended consequences. It’s hard to get a scientific estimate of the corn that will be required to produce enough ethanol for our needs; however, one study showed that, in order to decrease gasoline use by just 10% with ethanol, it would require using 43% of our entire production of field crops. A strong food factor is that China and India are growing at an amazing rate and requiring more and more food products. As routinely happens, some products suffered a bad crop year because of weather; this year it was rice which has a big effect upon the middle and Far East where it is a primary staple. I don’t worry too much about a government that leaves me alone to do what I think is best, but we should all worry about a government that uses its power to tell people what is best for all of us. I don’t worry that our mainstream media is biased, that it is 90% Liberal Democrat, but we should all worry when the media, because of its influence, sways opinion regarding the economy as well as the Iraq war, the global warming hoax, and now the food shortage.

What Are Obama’s Core Beliefs?

Barack Obama ran a campaign, during the entire 2007, featuring a non-racist theme. Then his 20 year close relationship with anti-white racist Jeremiah Wright and Michelle Obama’s racist comments hit the country like dirty bomb and shone the light on Obama’s core beliefs.

Now that the dirty secret has surfaced, racism is in the news daily. The NCAAP has invited racist Wright to be keynote speaker at their convention. I assume he will not rage against whites and his country as he does in his sermons with his statements, “God damn American,” and “United States of KKK,” and repeat the lie that the white man intentionally introduced AIDs into the Black community. Rather, I expect him to spin, rationalize, and cover his tracks for the terrible damage his ravings have done to the Obama campaign. It is no surprise that Bill Moyers, extreme leftist, anti-American, long-time propagandist at PBS has invited Wright to sit for an interview on his PBS program. The Seattle Times and the ”Accuracy In Media” organization have raised questions of the ethics of Moyer’s serving as a news giver because of his relationship with several extremist left-wing organizations. Although it is vexing that our government subsidizes PBS adding to the bundle of cash that the network milks from watchers, if there was no PBS, we would have to invent one. It may take an anti-American, anti-family values network like this to make us appreciate what a great and free country we have that allows their kind of propaganda on our airwaves. Today, I heard that PBS is going to air a documentary on the aircraft carrier Nimitz that is not only quite good but uncensored. If that is the case, it will be a first for PBS having never before presented a documentary without some degree of political spin. They required famous producer Ken Burns to change his World War 2 documentary to include a higher Hispanic presence before they would air it.

The Same Old Stuff

CNN business analysts are almost giddy with happiness that we are having some economic problems – the threat of inflation, the weak dollar, and the crude oil price.

CNN, from the owner right down to the newscasters, has been in the tank for the Democrats ever since the company was formed. The founder, super wealthy, former Jane Fonda husband, and leftist lunatic, Ted Turner recently said that global warming would force us, in the next 30 years, to resort to cannibalism because our food supply would be gone. Someone call in the guys win the white coats. The CNN approach to news presentation is to trumpet and magnify any bad news for the country because that would imply bad news for Bush and good news for Democrats and Bush-haters everywhere. CNN, MSNBC, NBC, et-al are not about to point out that unemployment is still low, productivity is still high, and the Dow-Jones is still way up there. Instead, the media cannot stop telling us in every newscast that we have a home mortgage crisis. We don’t have a mortgage crisis. We have a leftist, scandal-obsessed media claiming we do and scaring the public into thinking we do. Of course, there are mortgage foreclosures among those who thought the housing boom would last forever, but most Americans have solid home loans that they are comfortably paying off. More Americans own their own home than any time in history. Reasonable loans are still available. Many of our economic indicators are still healthy. This so-called crisis is like all others during the last several years – media and liberal politician generated. In his book, The Sky is Not Falling, John Stossel wrote that the out of office politicians and the media told us “we had crises over avian flu, the Y2K threat to computers, imaginary cancer spikes caused by pesticides, killer bees flying up from Mexico, and uncontrolled population growth leading to a ‘Population Bomb’ that would bring riots and mass starvation by the year 2000.” It’s the same stuff.

Worth Every Penny

A crowd of about 10,000 University of Colorado students gathered Sunday for their annual celebration of marijuana and at 4pm lit up their joints for the big smoke-out.

Thousands wore green or T-shirts promoting pot and proclaiming freedom from the tyranny of the law. They climbed trees, played the bongos, danced, cavorted, snapped pictures and had picnics. Some students used the event to promote their next favorite issue; one young man passed out Rice Krispy treats with messages asking that everyone demonstrate against the injustices in Darfur. However, the typical message – and one many puffers thought will be a big issue in the upcoming election - was the demand for marijuana decriminalization. A freshman co-ed said she “felt part of something bigger than just a smoke-out.” She said she that “this is a big part of the reason I applied here - for the weed atmosphere.”
Doesn’t it make you proud that so many of our young people can go off to college nowadays and major in fields such as Earth Sciences, Environmental Psychology, Sociology, and Cultural Diversity? The parents who provide the thousands of dollars for tuition, books, room, food, lattes, and pot must be thrilled that their sacrifice was worth every penny.
These young tokers, whom the leftist university staff has filled with environmental looniness, have hypocritically failed to consider how their actions contradict their beliefs. I guess pot takes precedence over the environment since 10,000 burning weeds must make a heavy carbon footprint and produce a lot of polluting particulate matter.

Obama is a Whiner

Barack Obama, who comes across smooth as silk when delivering a prepared talk but who struggles awkwardly when improvising to answer reporter questions, wants no more debates and is whining that the last one was unfair.

He believes the questions in the last debate were unfair because the fawning media has so far given him a free ride. After months of coddling, a couple of media types finally asked some tough questions. He thinks it was unfair to ask why he, as potentially the next leader of our country, will not wear an American flag lapel pin. He thinks it was unfair to question his 20 year intimate relationship with the anti-American, anti-white, racist Jeremiah Wright. He thinks it was unfair to ask him to comment on his wife’s statements that she had never been proud of America, and that American was a mean country. He thinks it was unfair to ask about his relationship with former domestic terrorist Weather Underground member, William Ayers, who said as late as 2001 he was “glad he bombed the Pentagon and other buildings, and should have done more.” He thinks it was unfair to inquire about his elitist remarks to a group of San Francisco Liberals when he insulted average Americans and American values. Obama, whom the National Journal ranked as the Senate’s most Liberal member, is finding he can no longer conceal his extremist views now that Clinton is applying pressure and the media is no longer unanimous in protecting him. It is troubling to ponder that this friend of America-haters may be the next leader of our country. It is also troubling to note that, even if he fails to beat McCain, he will still be one of the leaders of our congress and so will Socialist-leaning, truth challenged, Hillary Clinton.

What is Treason?

It’s a crazy world, isn’t it? One of America’s ex-presidents, albeit the worst, Jimmy Carter, has set off on his own, ignoring not only his own party’s leaders but President Bush and our State Department’s request, to Syria to meet with one of the world’s most bloody minded terrorists, the leader of Hamas.

This group, along with al Qaeda, and Hezbollah are considered the world’s worst terrorists. The Hamas leader is an avowed enemy of the U.S., has declared war on all non-Muslims, and vowed to wipe Israel from the map. If one assumes that we are at war with terrorists, and given that Hamas is seen by all as a terrorist group, doesn’t Jimma’s hugging and schmoozing (watching the video, I thought he was going to give the guy a big wet kiss) give comfort to our enemy and come under the definition of treason? How can this be? Only in America, I guess. No ex-pres has done more to undermine the current president and his country than Jimmy Carter. In an earlier statement, he blamed America for fomenting trouble in Gaza by siding with the Fatah against Hamas.
I voted for this man. I'm so ashamed.

Chickens Coming Home to Roost

The New York Times Company, parent of The New York Times, posted a $335,000 loss in the first quarter which is the worst period the company and the newspaper industry have seen The Times Company’s core news media group, which includes The Times, The Boston Globe and The International Herald Tribune, formed.

The company is struggling to understand the reason for this unfortunate situation. Let’s hazard a guess. How about a loss in credibility of these once great providers of daily news that they have brought down upon themselves by becoming little more than leftist propaganda outlets looking more and more like second rate tabloids? The owners and editors are admitted Liberals and, as such is the case with all Liberals, are duty-bound to promote liberal causes. The Times has fought President Bush from day one; the paper has had to fire journalists for fabricating stories detrimental to President Bush and to the War on Terror. The Times catered to the extremist organization Move_On.Org, giving them a $75,000 discount for the full-page ad that called General Petraeus, General Betray Us. Clearly, the Internet has had an affect upon newspaper sales, but the fact remains that the average person still likes to have a paper in his hands to read with his morning coffee. The problem for the liberal press is that when readers start to wonder if their daily newspaper is giving them articles that are tainted with the writer’s personal views, they will turn to other news sources.

Got a Problem? Raise Taxes

I recently referred to a news item that demonstrates the way Democrat politicians solve issues they see as problems: the heavily Democrat Iowa legislature raised the tax on cigarettes a whopping $1 per pack and then proudly announced the decrease in smoking by Iowans.

The poor clueless bureaucrats are oblivious to the reality that Iowans are driving across the border into Missouri to buy their tobacco products, the taxes going into their border state coffers rather than their own. Iowa is not alone when it comes to clueless, disconnected DemPols. California Democrat Representative Jim Beall has proposed raising the beer tax by $1.80 per six-pack or 30 cents per can or bottle, an unbelievable increase of about 1,500 percent. Dan Gordon, of Gordon Biersch Brewing Company, calculated that the tax on a barrel of beer would go from $6.40 to $89. "We would all be looking for jobs," he said. Beall apparently has a habit of coming to the aid of Californians by taking money out of their pockets. He has spearheaded other unrealistic tax hikes on tobacco and other products that he doesn’t like. Not to be outdone in efforts to fleece the taxpayer, California Democrat, Tom Torlakson, has introduced an amendment to make it easy for the Democrat majority legislature to raise taxes by getting rid of that pesky two-thirds vote requirement. When are DemPols going to stop responding all real or imaginary problems by passing more laws and raising taxes? When are they going to get in touch with the public instead of operating on their own biases and taking actions that continually chip away at our freedoms?

Political Correctness Plumbs New Depths

Just when I think I’ve seen the ultimate idiocy in the name of political correctness, someone or some institution takes P.C. to greater depths.

The San Jose State University president has declared that the Red Cross will not be permitted to conduct its annual blood drive on campus this year because the university refuses to comply with the FDA policy that homosexual men who are sexually active (the image that phrase conjures up makes me slightly nauseous) may not donate blood. The university public relations mouthpiece rationalized their refusal to accept life saving blood by stating that the Food and Drug Administration rule that bars sexually active gay men from donating blood violates the campus’s nondiscrimination policy. Apparently, a homosexual staff member saw this as prejudice against homosexuals, notwithstanding the risk of HIV or other STDs. As usual, the political correctness parishioners miss the point which is that this has nothing to do with discrimination and everything to do with public health. The FDA Policies don't ban gay men; they ban health risks. The San Jose State blood drive brings in an estimated 1,000 pints of blood a year. Do we assume that a San Jose State student or staff member involved in an accident and needing a couple of pints of blood will have to go elsewhere?

Mr. Peanut Meets Hamas

The President has asked former President Jimmy (Mr. Peanut) Carter to cancel his trip to meet with arguably the world’s most murderous terrorists, the leader of Hamas, because the Peanut has no official standing and such a visit can only undermine our State Department’s efforts in the Middle East.

His own party, the DemPols, have asked him not to make the trip. He defended his reasons for wanting to meet with Hamas by saying he feels "quite at ease" about meeting with Hamas terrorists.
Hamas has sworn to destroy Israel saying it would never recognize that country. It has carried out dozens of suicide bombings that have killed more than 250 Israelis. It attacked school buses and a teen-age party. Israel no longer has any contact with the Islamic extremist group, whose violent takeover of the Gaza Strip in June has undercut efforts by Israel and the Palestinians to strike a final peace deal.
Here’s a thought: the American taxpayers are essentially footing the bill for most of this misadventure since, as ex-President, he has a staff of Secret Service men traveling with him at all times.

It’s Disappointing

For those of us who actually believed our country had virtually repaired the racial wounds during the 45 years since the civil rights act, the last few months have been soberingly disappointing.

Oh sure, we accepted that there would always be the race-baiters like Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, and Charlie Rangel who make their living off this sort of thing, but we thought we were all fairly color-blind. The first jolt for us in that belief was, after Barack Obama became a serious candidate, a steady stream of Black Americans called the talk shows and proudly asserted they would vote for Obama against whomever he opposed, regardless of his views, but simply because he was their color. Then came the publicity about Obama’s 20-year relationship with a man he called his mentor, Minister Jeremiah Wright, who has publicly made the most hateful anti-white and anti-American statements since the Black Panthers. Even the, liberal media, although ethically handicapped by its customary political correctness, and almost giddy with its Obama bias, had no choice but to print this stuff. Add in the comments Michelle Obama made about never being proud to be an American and anti-white sentiments in her college thesis. Now, I see that the NAACP has asked racist Wright to be keynote speaker at their annual meeting. It’s never ending; in the last couple of days we’ve learned that Obama also had a friendly relationship with Bill Ayers, a former member of the anarchist group, the Weather Underground, a man who set off bombs in government buildings and said, "I don't regret setting bombs; I feel we didn't do enough.” He lived for years with Bernardine Dohrn, whom the FBI considered the most dangerous woman in America. Are you ready for the final note to the Ayers story? He is currently a Professor of Education at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Pretty shocking, but then, our colleges are saturated with anti-American, Socialist, left-wingers. That’s where they go to get a lifetime secured job indoctrinating young people.

April 11, 2008

American Embarrassment

Former President Jimmy Carter is reportedly preparing an unprecedented meeting with Khaled Meshal, the leader of Hamas, an organization that the U.S. government considers one of the leading terrorist threats in the world.

The willy-nilly UN has even declared Meshal a terrorist – a terrorist who has sanctioned killing all non-Muslims including women and children. He is the worst president in our history, an anti Semite, who helps fund Muslim groups, screwed up the Iran hostage situation, is responsible for the pro-American Shah’s overthrow and subsequent installation of muslim extremist Khoumeni, and our current problems with Iran.
During the Carter years, many countries were lost to Communism, and we had runaway inflation coupled with crippling taxes and public apathy. He shifted the blame on the American public by calling it “malaise.” The peanut brain, ex-pres hasn’t changed and travels around the world blaming America for all problems – except, of course, when he has a chance to blame Israel. He has always believed he can make things better by meeting with the world’s tyrants and terrorists despite the fact that he invariably makes things worse by misleading them and by undercutting our own diplomats. The man is disgusting and an embarrassment to America.
Carter’s Ambassador to the Soviet Union during the cold war said that, in his opinion, Carter was America’s worst President and that, during his ambassadorship, he worried about the danger to our country’s security Carter’s actions were causing. He said he felt no relief until Carter was out of office.

Fleece the taxpayer Time

I said the paycheck withholding tax is the most devious element of the most shameful swindle the government ever perpetrated upon its citizens – the tax system.

Another notable taxpayer gouge, right up there with the death tax on savings already taxed, is the Congressional Budget Office’s (CBO) Revenue Baseline scam which provides for automatic tax increases from year to year unless Congress votes to stop them; how likely is it that Congress will vote to prevent a tax increase once it has been established? The politicians can put their hands in our pockets and pull out a few more dollars of our spendable income without causing a stir or losing a single vote. Some writer said this taxpayer shakedown was “like a rabbit hidden so deep in the weeds that it went unnoticed for years.” Incidentally, this is the same passive resistance technique Congressional Democrats plan to use by failing to renew the Bush tax cuts; they assume we are too ignorant to perceive that their inaction amounts to an increase in our taxes. Ronald Reagan said, "Our federal tax system is, in short, utterly impossible, utterly unjust and completely counterproductive. “It reeks with injustice and is fundamentally un-American.” Final note: Doesn’t it seem odd that our IRS tax prepareration booklet includes a Spanish language voter registration form? Am I crazy in thinking that a person whose English is so poor, he can’t fill out a simple form might just possibly not be encouraged to vote?

Know any Good Polar Bear Recipes?

Is it the chicken or the egg? Do normal folks who become obsessed with the Al Gore type psychosis about the environment, global warming, and carbon footprint get wacky or do wacky folks get obsessed with the global warming?

In one of his pants-on-fire speeches, Al Gore said we could reduce our carbon footprint to zero which is, of course, another ridiculous Gore statement unless we all stop breathing. Proving that immense wealth does not make one clear of mind, super rich, but wacked out, Ted Turner recently told America that in thirty years the world’s temperature will have risen so much that most of us will die and the survivors will have to resort to cannibalism. Before checking out any mouth watering humans, I suggest we start looking for some enticing sounding polar bears recipes since they seem to be the species the enviro-wackos are most concerned with anyway. Climate change will probably be considered a joke in five years time; in fact, meteorologist Augie Auer has said exactly that. By then the enviro-wackos will have moved on to some new crusade, the leftist media will have long since lost interest, and Ted Turner will still be super rich and making outrageous anti-American statements to get attention.

April 07, 2008

Too Much Government

My sister in Iowa sent me a newspaper article about a new Iowa tax on tobacco that perfectly describes what happens when we get too much government in our lives – the bureaucratic bungling, ineptness, and unintended consequences of their well-intended motives of taking over our lives because we are just plain too stupid to do the right thing.

The Democrat-controlled Iowa Legislature, the same wizards who got the bright idea to support one of their favorite support groups – the unions - by forcing even non-union workers to pay dues to the union, has raised the Iowa tax on cigarettes by a whopping $1 dollar per pack. Quoting from the article: “Cigarette sales in Iowa have dropped 36 percent in the year since the per-pack state tax went up $1. “The drop in Iowa sales was almost universally attributed to the new law, which raised the cigarette tax to $1.36, among the highest in the nation.”
The Iowa Democrats are so reveling in their liberal “feel good” mode thinking they are doing something to reduce smoking, they are oblivious to the fact that smokers are driving to Missouri where the tax per pack is only 17 cents. Again, from the article: "’We sell hundreds of cartons of cigarettes to people from Iowa, and we love it,’ said Jo Hulet, manager of Sharp's BP convenience store in Bethany, Mo.” Ms. Hulet said the store’s profits have risen more than 50%, and she has met a lot of nice people from Iowa since the new tax went into effect.
It is illegal to bring more than two packs of cigarettes into Iowa, and, if caught, Iowans will incur a heavy fine, but saving $15 on a carton is a powerful temptation. This is one more case where government mismanagement and failure to understand the public have caused citizens to, not only lose respect for our laws, but break the law. The only surprise about this is that the Socialist Des Moines Register let the article come to print.

April 06, 2008

Metastasized Government

Some figures in Rick Silva’s column regarding the new University of California president Mark Yudof’s salary and benefits demands repeating.

Rick wrote, “The new president will make $591,084 in salary and will still get $8,916 in a yearly car allowance. He will also get $228,000 in supplemental pension payments. He'll also get to live in a 13,320 square-foot mansion - on 10 acres of land and great views of the bay. But if you're worried how it is that Yudof can maintain such a place - he'll have a large staff to maintain at a $300,000 a year price tag. I'm not sure if that covers the electric bill - but even if it doesn't, Yudof is saving about $9,000 in gas money. “This amounts to a compensation package of $828,000 this year for a figurehead who spends his time attending rubber chicken dinners. How does this abuse of authority occur? Is there no authority to stand up and say, “This is not right?” Are there no restraints upon the people who control our government education systems? How does one get one’s mind around these figures in terms of the current budget problems that are causing California schools to undergo massive staff layoffs? When we allow the government to control any entity involving our daily lives, it takes over our lives, assumes a life of its own, the bureaucracy grows and metastasizes, eliminates any competition, destroys any profit and savings motives, removes any free market forces which tend to result in high quality at a good price, and the original goal of the entity becomes lost. Government bureaucracies have plenty of money to spend on whatever they deem important – our money.

Jane and Jimma Join Obama

Interesting stuff on the election front.

The Indiana Democrat Party is examining records to determine if any previously registered Republicans are now in a position to vote for one of the two Democrat candidates and, if so, not allow them to vote. Sounds kind of unconstitutional doesn’t it? But then, we are dealing with Democrat politicians here, and they have a history of claiming to champion freedom of choice until it interferes with their sense of things. They just feel bound to take whatever action is necessary to insure that outcomes match their desires regardless of any damage to freedom. Recall how the DemPols periodically make an attempt to stifle talk radio under the guise of the so-called Fairness Doctrine – a name, in this case, only a true hypocrite could dream up. Incidentally, this is the same party that approved Hillary Clinton’s effort to allow imprisoned felons to vote, and New York Governor Spitzer’s attempt to get the vote of illegal aliens by granting them drivers’ licenses. In other election news, Hanoi Jane Fonda has endorsed Barack Obama which is, it seems to me, bad news for Obama and good news for Hillary. Now we can wait for the other shoe to drop. That is, when someone speculates that, when Hanoi Jane sat for photographs on that antiaircraft gun emplacement, the type that the Communists were using to shoot down American pilots, it could have been the gun that shot down John McCain. In another piece of bad luck for Obama, our worst modern day president, Jimmy Carter, the runaway inflation and “malaise” president, announced he is going to cast his super delegate vote for Obama. Obama is really scooping up the questionable endorsements: Hugo Chavez, Hamas, Fidel Castro, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, and now Hanoi Jane and Jimma Carter.

Posturing Pompous Pols

Our Congress has just engaged in one of their favorite pastimes - one that provides them with a convenient excuse for avoiding many serious problems facing our country.

As a shift-the-blame deflection tactic, they convened another congressional hearing on the gas prices. They call in the customary whipping-boy panel of oil company executives and ask the same routine 10 minute long questions, get the same 30 second answers, and make the same posturing sincere sounding declarations before the TV cameras as they did the last time that pump prices peaked. Someone said that sincerity is the best tool the politician can have in his toolbox; once he has mastered that, he has it made. The oil guys tirelessly respond with the revelation that when oil prices exceed $100, gas prices rise. One of the whipping-boys commented that the oil companies pay more in taxes than they receive in profit. Responding to a posturing politician’s criticism that oil companies should be developing alternative energy sources, he was told that they do spend billions, not millions, on alternative energy source research. The oil guys also reminded the DemPols on the panel of a fact they hate hearing - that the real problem is we import most of our oil from countries like Saudi Arabia because the Environmental lobby owns our politicians and prevents any exploration off our coasts, our southwest, and the Alaskan wilderness, and have blocked nuclear energy and building new refineries. An L.A. Democrat on the panel angrily emoted on how small businesses in her district were going broke because of the price of fuel; two minutes later, she told the panel she would fight any attempt to allow oil exploration, re-opening dormant oil fields, or new refinery development.

The Big Shakedown

It’s that time of year again – time for my annual temper tantrum about our reprehensible tax system.

The Internal Revenue Service tax code is the most oppressive, burdensome, scam politicians have ever inflicted upon American citizens. Big government politicians have imposed upon us many odious restrictions, laws, standards, and unwritten rules of political correctness, but with the tax system theyl confiscate our hard earned wages. Macheivelli could not have devised a more odious shakedown. There are 67,000 mind-numbing officialese pages of tax instructions. The IRS requires taxpayers to work through a myriad of “worksheets” just to calculate line entries on the standard forms which is much like going through a labyrinth – you eventurally get to the finish but cannot comprehend how you got there. The massive convoluted mess leaves the majority of Americans no choice but to pay for a tax-preparer. In fact, we spend a mind-boggling $265 billion for tax preparation. The bureaucratic IRS staff approaches the population of a third world country. The most execreble tactic the politicians did in their soak-the-citizens-so-we-can-have-plenty-of-money-for-our-pet-projects is the Earned Income Withholding act. This act has employers withhold taxes from workers’ paychecks to desensitize them to the millstsone the politicians have hung around their neck and hide the fact that they work from January to April just to pay taxes. There would be a world of anger and demands for lower taxes if taxpayers had to write monthly checks to the IRS instead. We should have had tax reform, such as a flat tax, fair tax, or national sales tax, years ago but the Democrat politicians have buried every attempt and crushed whomever suggested it.
