Facts are Stubborn Things

Michigan has experienced the hardest winter ever, or at least since 1880 when record-keeping started, Wisconsin had a record high 95 inches of snow.

We have seen similar reports throughout the country and the world. Now, some scientists are saying that the warming trend actually plateaued in 1998, and the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change,) confirmed the data. Global warming zealots have ignored this because it shoots down their basic selling points – that man creates unnecessary carbon dioxide which causes the planet to warm, which melts the ice pack, which kills the polar bears, which upsets the school children, which causes parents to worry, so America has to cripple its economy by enacting unreasonable standards and restrictions on all businesses and set our lifestyle back 100 years to fix it. But, as John Adams said, “facts are stubborn things.” The shoot-down factor is that, although the planet has not been cooling for 10 years, carbon dioxide has indeed increased. The scientists believe the increase is nature-caused, and a harmless factor, considering that carbon dioxide is the main ingredient in nurturing all plant growth. I am beginning to mistrust the global warming zealots. I’m even starting to doubt whether that great meteorologist and environmental crusader, Al Gore, was telling the truth when he said he invented the Internet.
