The Mushroom Growing Principle

The Law of the Sea Treaty is up for a vote in the Senate Foreign Relations Committee this Thursday, November 1. It should be called “The Treaty of Take Away American Sovereignty.”

The DemPols have pushed this thing for years without success and it never caught much public attention because it seems superficially just another boring pastime for Senators to keep them from having to face tough controversial problems. President Reagan rejected it because it attempts to control the open sea by regulating minerals on the seabed. Worse yet, it establishes an International Bureaucracy – the International Seabed Authority (ISA) - to authorize seabed exploration and mining and collect and distribute the seabed mining royalty. This stinker would take away some more of our country’s sovereignty and freedom and put it into the hands of another United Nations type outfit comprised of the world’s most anti-American, anti-Democracy, human rights violating, countries who can levy taxes and impose rules. I can see why the DemPols have debated this behind closed doors. They have followed their mushroom-growing principle of dealing with the public: keep them in the dark and feed them lots of horse manure. Moreover, the liberal media has failed to do it job because of its agenda-driven choice of what to give the public. Liberal news people get all giddy over anything that smells of world government or anything that cuts American dominance down to size,

Take-O-Crats

The Democrat party is misnamed; the once great party long ago gave up the cause of freedom and equal opportunity and took up the political philosophy of “Whatever It Takes” in order to remain in power forever. They should rightfully be christened the “Take-O-crat” Party.

Their agenda is to take. Take more money out of our pocket for big government programs that we neither want or need, take away our incentive to invest by levying capital gains tax on earnings, take away with the “death tax” the nest egg for which we worked so hard so that we might have something to leave with our children, take more control of our lives, take away much of our self-reliance by making us a dependent class reliant upon the nanny state goodies, take away our freedom of choice – freedom to choose our children’s school, freedom to hire and fire whom we please, freedom to rent to whom you please, to choose our health care provider, and freedom to listen to the radio station of our choice. They have taken our right to decide for ourselves whether to wear a helmet, to fasten seat belts, to eat whatever foods we prefer, or to drive whatever vehicle we want. All this to make us dependent upon mother government. They even try to take away the reputation of political opponents by attacking their character ala the dirty tricks for which the Clinton War Room crowd is famous. Democrat/Liberals are not content to accept things as they are but have an obsessive need to cure the world of its shortcomings by whatever means necessary, and those means are usually to take what must be taken – our freedoms – all for our own good, of course.

History Doesn't Forget

The Democrat leadership is still trying to undermine the war effort by focusing on bad news instead of the recent progress and finding back door ways to cut funding – they need money to finance the $1.3 trillion (that’s with a “t” folks) tax increase the House is proposing.

It’s an odd situation; by declaring the war lost, Senate Leader Harry Reid and a few others crept out on a no-return limb and now have no choice but to insure that we do, in fact, lose in Iraq. DemPols have certainly honored themselves in the past few years; they have repeatedly made childish statements for which they later had to apologize. They have enabled the enemy with each and every one of their anti-war statements. John Edwards said the term “war on terror” was just a Bush bumper sticker. Minnesota Democrat Congressman Keith Ellison, the only Muslim in Congress, compared President Bush to Adolph Hitler and the White House staff to the Gestapo propaganda ministry. Senator Dick Durbin called American military interrogators and staff at the Guantanamo prison Nazis; he never apologized. John Murtha has done everything in his power to ensure we lose the war by trashing the military, the strategy, and the President; he boasted that the DemPols would stiffen the military equipment training requirement so severely, it would delay adding replacements and stifle the war effort. These cowardly hypocrites have done everything in their power to surrender the war but the one thing that would do the job - cut off funds to the troops. They will not do this because they fear suffering politically. The public forgets this kind of putrid, political perfidy in a couple months, but History will surely remember.

More Slime Politics on Display

\Democrat politicians and their lapdog media have been casting about the past few days trying out different scenarios with which to blame President Bush for the Southern California forest fires.

It is problematic for them since authorities have attributed some of the fires to arson – police arrested a motorcyclist seen setting one of them – and a downed power line ignited one of them; I have yet to work out how the DemPols can rationalize Bush’s culpability on these. I blogged earlier that a newspaperman and a couple of politicians, including Barbara Boxer, blamed Bush for the severity of the fires because our National Guard are fighting in Iraq and unavailable for assisting with the fires. This is a lie, slime politics on display, and nothing but a blatant attempt to tar the President. The National Guard command announced that we have ample Guard force available if, in an extreme case, they needed to use troops. SlimePols adhere to the principle that if one slings enough mud, some of it is bound to stick and, secondarily, the dirtiest lie appears on page one whereas the retraction appears on page twenty-one. Therefore some of them, notably Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, rashly claimed that man-made global warming caused the fires since Southern California is experiencing the hottest year in history, and we are having the worst fires ever. Of course, twenty minutes after he made the global warming reference on national news, the shockingly mendacious Harry Reid denied he made the remark. When asked if the global warming/forest fire claims are true, a scientist responded, no, and no. The year 1936, not 2007, has the distinction of those two records, and, incidentally, the number of American deaths in those fires ranks second only to 9/11. George Bush wasn’t born until 1946 but don’t you have this uneasy feeling that somehow he caused those fires back in 1936.

Let’s All Blame Bush

My friend imagined he was being funny when he asked me how long I thought it would take the Democrats to blame President Bush for the Southern California wildfires.

He underestimated the extent to which a partisan can stretch in order to trash the opposition. A reporter stated yesterday that he planned to ask Governor Schwarzenegger whether he thought President Bush was culpable for the extent of the Southern California firestorm because he had sent our National Guard troops to fight in Iraq making them unavailable to help fight the fires. Now this whiz kid, who is tasked with reporting the news to us, is so anxious to hop onto the “blame Bush bandwagon,” that it failed to register with him that the California National Guard, even given all the periodic wildfires of which we suffer, are never used to fight fires. I understand our wonderful Senator, Barbara Boxer, also lurched onto the bandwagon and made the same misinformed claim. This is a very Katrina-esque press response to a crisis; after Katrina – and continuing today – the press rushed to blame the President for the slow recovery rather than nail the true culprits: the inept New Orleans mayor, the do-nothing governor, and the notoriously corrupt city government. Louisiana Congressman Democrat William Jefferson even got in on the act when he used a helicopter that should have been rescuing stranded people to ferry him to his estate to retrieve personal items. Good old William, sometimes called “cold cash Jefferson” because he had $85 thousand hidden in his freezer, was later indicted for racketeering, soliciting bribes and money-laundering,

Selective Free Speech

Police are continuing to investigate an anti-Semitic message that included a swastika found etched into a bathroom wall at Columbia University, just two days after a noose was discovered hanging from the door of a professor at Teachers College.

In a message to the Columbia community, President Lee Bollinger said he “was saddened by the second incident of hate in a week.” Saddened is he? Well, he was certainly saddened a couple of weeks ago after he invited Iranian dictator Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who vowed to destroy Israel, to speak at his university, according Bollinger all in the name of free speech. He boasted that honors freedom of speech so much he would gladly invite Hitler. The sad part occurred when some of the moneyed Columbia supporters were angry about inviting one of the world’s worst tyrants and violator of human rights to speak at the university and threatened to withhold contributions. Liberal college staff members believe in free speech to a point; that point is when they disagree with the speaker’s opinion. I believe their point of view is identical to Ahmadinejad’s, that is, anti American, Israel-hatred, anti capitalism, and anti Bush. This is the same university that will not allow military recruiters to even enter their campus – the one where the rare Conservative speaker is invariably boycotted, demonstrated against, and shouted down. American parents should contemplate the fact that they are entrusting their 18 year-olds to these elitist college presidents and professors who are responsible for molding the young minds that will continue to preserve our culture.

Journalistic Malfeasance

A poll by the CNN-Opinion Research Corporation found that nearly half of Americans feel the U.S. economy is in a recession.

Congratulation mainstream media, with your constant misrepresentation of the state of our Economy, you have validated the dictum that Nazi propagandist Joseph Goebbels expounded that a big lie is more credible than a small one and a lie told often will eventually convince all. We've had incredible economic growth in the last 3 or 4 years in spite of the Iraq War, record high oil prices, and the sub-prime mortgage problems. We have record high employment, steady GDP growth, record high stock market, low inflation, and a terrific living standard. Not to be deterred, the leftist media tells us how poorly we are doing and that our economy is going into the tank. To a point, ignorance can explain the constant media misrepresentation of the Economy; journalism students don’t waste time taking something like Economics; I have yet to encounter a news writer who understood that tax cuts increase government revenues, that consumers, not businesses, pay for restrictions on trade with higher prices, or that capital gains taxes limit capital and depress the Economy which, in turn, cause a decrease, not increase, in tax revenue. Even if they did understand these concepts, they would not report them honestly because they would then be saying something positive about conservative tenets. Most news people are so anti-Bush, they shade all their reporting either consciously or unconsciously knowing it will damage the Bush Presidency in particular and conservatism in general. Either way, it is journalistic malfeasance.

Why Us?

Why us? Why are we Californians stuck with all these so called Congressional leaders that make mindless, leftist, irresponsible public remarks?

Congressman Pete Stark, from our fair state, uttered the latest inanity, one that would qualify him for membership in the SlimePol contingent if he were not already a member. Notorious for shooting off his insulting mouth; he once called California state welfare director Eloise Anderson a “baby-killer” and said that she would "kill children if she had her way," all because she questioned his opinion. Because of his hatred of President Bush, he made an Ass of himself again saying Bush wants funds to support the troops so they can “blow up more innocent people" and that Bush is conducting the war “for his own amusement.” Pretty responsible talk for a Congressman, huh? This jerk gives extremism a bad name. One of my favorate items about Stark, and one that solidified his position as a SlimePol Charter Member, was when a Washington Ethics Group questioned his paying his wife Deborah $176,800 over three election cycles for her work as a campaign treasurer. He is a poster boy lefty, the Starkster is a self-righteous, anti-war, atheist, Berkeley grad, Socialist who has undermined the war effort, voted against every troop funding bill and has joined in the wasteful silliness with fellow SlimePol John Conyers to impeach the President. Even the liberal San Francisco Chronicle reported that "Only a politician who assumes he has a job for life could behave so badly.”
Thank you Pete for once again embarrassing yourself and every Californian and further driving down Congressional public approval. I don’t even want to contemplate what it says about the voters in his 13th District who have kept him in office since 1973. Yikes.

Ignorance is Bliss

If ignorance really is bliss, Congressional House Speaker Nancy Pelosi must be euphoric.

Can she really be as inept as she seems? As recently as the weekend, Ms. Pelosi said that she planned to take a bill to the full House this year which denounces Turkey because of mass killings of Armenians during the Ottoman Empire and labeling the episode genocide. It is anyone’s guess why she would do such a thing at this particular point. I don’t want to believe that America’s Congressional leader is really this ignorant so my only choice – not really a stretch – is to assume she is doing this to undermine the war effort, the troops, and President Bush knowing that the DemPols have already shown their ugly underside on the war effort. That is, they must insure our failure as their only way to save face after criticizing the war from the onset. Turkey is our only Mid East ally in the Iraq war; this is neither the time nor the place for us to exhume the past and fret over the historical record of the Ottoman Empire. In any case, what point is there to pass a bill calling a known genocide that took place in 1915 a genocide. As vile as it may seem, the only explanation appears to be a deliberate attempt to anger the Turks enough for them to stop supporting us in Iraq. In either case, she will have alienated moderates, further angered supporters of the troops, and solidified her place in history as the most incompetent House Speaker in modern times.
